Afghanistan: Flood and heavy snowfall take four lives, 2 Feb 2013

According to a report by emergency operation center, four people lost their lives as result of flooding in several provinces, as Hirat, Badghis and Parwan are the most affected provinces.

Hirat:

Hirat is one the province hit by disaster, as 25 families in Ghoryan, Guzra and Se Nawahi districts are affected there. According to the report the ARCS at the west zone has sent an evaluation team (DRU) ,which is now providing first aid assistance and conducting survey to organize ARCS aids to affected people.

Parwan:

According to ARCS at Parwan province, in Opyan area of Parchano district, a five year old boy and 18 year old girl have died as result of snow and rain and a house is totally destroyed. The committee will take necessary steps based on the evaluation report it has already received.

Badghis:

Two children lost their lives and a mother and a two year old son are wounded as result of snow and rain in Charsakhi villige of Qula e Now district. A house is also destroyed by the flood. The ARCS in continuation to its humanitarian assistance, has distributed the following items to each effected family:

· Rice 50 kg

· Bean 10 kg

· Sugar 10 kg

· Cooking oil 10 kg

· Tea 2 kg

· Salt 2 kg

· Blanket 7 pcs

· Tarpaulin 2 pcs

· Water container 2 pcs

· Tent 1 pc
